The above video is from Coldplay’s official YouTube channel. Coldplay have been chosen as the lead act for Super Bowl 50. So, who are they?
Coldplay are a rock band that hails from the U.K.
Unofficially they are a band that formed in Uni. They formed in the late 90’s and had a breakthrough hit in 2000 titled ‘Yellow’. The band members are Chris Martin (lead vocals), Jonny Buckland (lead guitarist), Guy Berryman (pop), and Will Champion (drums).
Over the course of their career, so far, they have experimented with different sounds. From pop to pop-rock and alternative, they currently are sitting in the rock genre. Their influences have included U2, Radiohead and A-Ha. They have collaborated musically as the band Coldplay but also individually have worked on projects outside of the band.
Their interests include photography, fashion and fitness. Berryman, in particular, enjoys running and is an accomplished marathon runner.
They recently did the Super Bowl 50 press conference. Journalists were asking what there lineup for halftime would be. Naturally they didn’t tell but I personally would love to see them lead into it with their song Clocks. Given that it is a high pressure game and the advertising is out there, Clocks would bring in a crescendo that would change the mood and build up into the 12 minute act and back into the game.
I have added the press conference below if you would like to watch it. ( N.B. You will have to click on the title to go to the official channel.)
Either way here is to a great NFL finale.
