This year will see the 51st playing of the Super Bowl and it’s set to be one of the most thrilling games in the history of the competition. The game will take place at the NRG Stadium, Houston, Texas and this will be the second Super Bowl hosted by the stadium. Interestingly, the last time the Super Bowl was contested at the NRG Stadium in 2004, the New England Patriots were involved and they are back in 2017, to take on the Atlanta Falcons.

While New England Patriots have lifted the Lombardi Trophy four times, Atlanta Falcons are yet to win the Super Bowl by many onlookers expect them to put the record straight on Sunday. Despite the fact, Atlanta Falcons started the season as outsiders to win the Super Bowl, they have come on very strong and boast one of the most dynamic offenses ever seen in the NFL. Matt Ryan had come good at quarterback, not that he wasn’t good before but there was always the sense he was capable of more and this season he has delivered. The Falcons also have one of, if not the best wide receiver currently playing the sport, in Julio Jones. Jones is a player who is strong in all areas and wherever he picks up the ball on the field, he is a danger. This is something the Patriots will be aware of and Jones is sure to be singled out for some special attention.

As for the Patriots, they have a tried and tested formula in place, with the four-time Super Bowl winners of Tom Brady at quarterback and Bill Belichick as coach. Unfortunately for the Patriots, they may have recorded the best numbers in terms of defence during this season but they must do without a key offensive weapon, as Rob Gronkowski will miss the game having had back surgery. Thankfully, with Belichick coaching the team, the Patriots are sure to respond with some new and intriguing offensive plays to test the Falcons defence.

The good news for the neutral NFL fan is we are set for a high-scoring, entertaining game. The Falcons failed only once this season to score 24 points or more and offensively, they are in great form. The talk is the Patriots and Brady want to make a point following deflategate, so expect to see them come out hard, to put on a display which will live long in the memory. They certainly have the coach and personnel to do just that but will it be enough to win the 2017 Super Bowl?

Ultimately, this is going to be a very close and dramatic Super Bowl to watch. Both quarterbacks are playing well, with Ryan in the form of his life and there is very little to separate the teams. Those who have been watching the Falcons closely over the past eight weeks believe they are stronger than the final scores in their games suggest and they will run out comfortable winners. A certain Mr. Brady may have something to say about that.
