Trends 2018

Blazers, suits and that 1930s masculine trend is coming back. Do I think a blazer or suit worth investing in? I do. These lines will be around for a while.

Keep the style simple until you find your feet with it, but it lends itself to embellished fabrics or traditional wool blends to an office style with a skirt to match. The key is to keep it neat. This look is blazer style cut, not a round collar or huge buttons or even with shirt collars hanging over the jacket. Margaret Zhang nailed this look above by following the following rules;

  • Have a statement piece, in this case, the blazer which is embellished
  • A simple top underneath not clashing with the jacket
  • Simple jeans draw the eye to jacket
  • It is a neat and tidy look not layers of clothing hanging everywhere

Kate Waterhouse wears a skirt and jacket suit with a handbag that pops, burnt orange is a popular colour for accessories at the moment. A pop of colour using a handbag is a classic and fail-safe way to add some style to most outfits for women.

Matching pants and a jacket are the other strong trend.

All these looks are masculine but simple lines. They would look great for dinner out at a special restaurant or the office. They are flexible looks but very stylish for today’s woman.

I personally would stay away from black for any of these items because it would date this look a little, which is meant to be fresh and fashionable. Apart from staying away from black most choices in colour or fabric should be safe enough. Adding one suit and one blazer would make an excellent addition for a capsule wardrobe.
